D'un seul soupir
Duration: 6 minutes
Commissioned by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris
About
“D'un seul soupir is a piece conceived as an ode to slowness. Written as a continuation of Un monde plus mou, which explored breath and gradual falling asleep, this piece is written in a single stretch, like one long sigh. It calls for instruments with different temperaments; the beating caused by frequency juxtapositions inhabits the continuity of the lines. The voice uses barely articulated syllables, reminiscences of suggested language. The somewhat static in-between that inhabits the piece is briefly disturbed by short jolts, rapid lines that slightly alter the ongoing harmony. This piece is a calm inhabited, a sighed gesture, intimate, where time no longer really passes.”
