Hevea Alba

2026
for saxophone and electronics

Duration: 10 minutes
Dedicated to Simona Castria

About

“Dedicated to Simona Castria, Hevea Alba is a work for saxophone and electronics composed in 2026. The title refers to the rubber tree, from which natural latex is extracted, while Alba evokes the work’s luminous and spectral exploration.

The piece emerged from images, materials, and gestures even before it became music: first, the shaping of form and the imagination of timbres through painting; then, experimentation with taut surfaces and fragile or elastic membranes; followed by the composition of the piece itself; and finally, the recording and creation of the electronic track.

Throughout the piece, a recorded saxophone drone flows like a slow, subterranean sap, a continuous texture upon which the freer, more unstable sounds of the saxophone’s live performance emerge.”
