… In The Memory …
2017
for vocal ensemble and electronics (pedagogical piece)
Duration: 8 minutes
About
This piece requires preparatory work beforehand to collect the sounds needed for the electronic tracks, assign the different phrases to the soloists, decide how to cue the group, as well as the interpretative choices specific to each ensemble. The solo voices are processed in real time.
“Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory –
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved’s bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.”
Percy Shelley, 1821
