About

Meridiem Vespucci is a musical homage to Amerigo Vespucci, to his spirit of discovery and his ability to imagine new worlds. “Meridiem” comes from Latin and means noon, a moment of the day associated with a peak of light and clarity. Beyond the simple hour, the term “meridian” refers to the invisible geographical lines that divide the Earth and serve as markers in cartography, structuring our understanding of the globe. In this solo for cello, the slow adagio creates an atmosphere of contemplation, where each note traces an imaginary latitude, poetically drawing an “inner map.””
